Each year, the Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) recognizes superior efforts by Texas school public relations professionals at its annual conference and this year, Lewisville ISD (LISD) received top honors for its work produced during the 2011-12 school year.
LISD’s Office of Public Information and Community Relations received the 2012 Crystal Commendation trophy for its work organizing community teams that began the district’s Strategic Design initiative. The award is the most prestigious in Texas for school and community partnerships and was presented in front of more than 1,200 school public relations officials.
The LISD Public Information and Community Relations team was commended for its efforts to rally the community for education summits, focus and task groups under a mission to enact change in public education. The team’s year-long efforts culminated in bringing together thousands of community voices, coordinating the work of diverse community groups and broadcasting a live social media town hall – a nationwide first.
In addition to the Crystal Commendation trophy, the department earned two Best of Category Awards, 10 Gold Awards, three Silver Awards and two Bronze Awards for its work in editing, electronic media, graphic design, video production and writing.
The number of awards LISD earned in the large district category marks the district as a statewide leader in Texas school public relations.
